A composite delegation from the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad participated in a high-level seminar on development and cooperation between China and South Asian countries hosted by the Shanghai Institute for International Studies in Shanghai. Ambassador Sohail Mahmood, Director General of ISSI, delivered the keynote address, and other members of the delegation contributed to sessions focused on security, development and minilateralism.
In his keynote, Ambassador Sohail Mahmood represented ISSI’s perspectives to an audience of policymakers, scholars and regional experts. His participation underscored the institute’s engagement in multilateral and regional dialogues on economic and strategic cooperation.
Other delegation members took part in panel sessions that examined security dynamics, development challenges and opportunities, and the role of minilateral arrangements in fostering practical cooperation among a limited number of neighboring states. Their interventions aimed to share research-based insights and Pakistan’s viewpoint on these intersecting issues.
The delegation’s presence at the seminar reflected ongoing institutional ties between ISSI and SIIS and highlighted the importance of dialogue platforms for advancing cooperation between China and South Asian countries. Such exchanges provide opportunities for deeper understanding and for identifying areas of mutual interest in development and regional stability.
