Pakistan’s Climate Change Efforts in Flood-Affected Mingora

Minister of State for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Shazra Mansab Ali Khan, visited flood-affected areas in Mingora, offering reassurance to affected families and highlighting the government’s ongoing efforts to address climate challenges. Her visit included a review of relief operations and direct engagement with local communities recovering from recent floods.

Dr. Shazra Mansab affirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the rehabilitation of disaster-hit regions, pledging continued assistance to strengthen resilience against climate-related disasters. She stressed that safeguarding vulnerable communities from the growing impacts of climate change remains a core priority for the administration.

As part of her visit, Dr. Shazra participated in the nationwide Monsoon Plantation Drive, titled “Aik Beti, Aik Shajar.” Launched under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the campaign aims to plant 41 million trees across Pakistan. The initiative seeks to bolster climate resilience, restore ecosystems, and foster public participation in environmental conservation.

Federal Secretary for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Ms. Aisha Humaira Moriani, accompanied the minister during the visit, underlining the ministry’s coordinated approach to both immediate disaster relief and long-term environmental protection.
