The National Assembly Standing Committee on Interior met at Parliament House to address long-standing issues affecting CDA victims. The session was chaired by Raja Khurram Nawaz and attended by MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan, Minister of State Barrister Aqeel Malik, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Federal Cabinet Standing Committee Chair Malik Abrar Ahmed, the Chief Commissioner Islamabad and CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa along with senior officers.
MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan laid out detailed cases on behalf of affected families across all sectors, pressing for timely resolution of delayed matters and full protection of entitlements. He emphasised that the rights of CDA victims can no longer be sidelined and asked the committee to prioritise immediate relief and clear timelines.
Both Barrister Aqeel Malik and Malik Abrar Ahmed praised Anjum Aqeel Khan for representing the victims and urged swift, practical action. The committee issued a declaration that the CDA will inform the relevant MNAs before making decisions and that development, financial and allotment decisions will be taken in consultation with elected representatives.
CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa gave specific assurances: affected families will receive compensation based on current market rates; the older “Google/non-Google” categorisation will be removed and a new survey conducted to determine rights; pending allotment letters and payments will be cleared promptly; and development work across sectors will be accelerated. He also noted a short delay due to the overseas duties of some officials, after which work will resume on a priority basis.
Anjum Aqeel Khan pledged to continue defending the rights of CDA victims across all forums, whether the matter concerns compensation, allotment or development work. Representatives of the victims present at the meeting included Malik Zaheer, Malik Muhammad Ashraf, Malik Imran, Raja Faizan, Malik Abrar, Raja Babar and Raja Tahir.
The same committee will also review and decide on cases involving victims of the Federal Government Housing Authority, ensuring a coordinated approach to housing and allotment issues in Islamabad. The committee stressed that consultation with MNAs will remain central to resolving pending matters for CDA victims.
