Minister Abdul Aleem Khan sets new right sizing targets, orders probe into Pakistan Post hires and a business plan for Postal Life Insurance.

Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan chaired a meeting to review the department’s right sizing programme, receiving briefings from the Federal Secretary for Communications, the Chairman of the NHA and the IG Motorways. The session assessed progress in light of Cabinet Committee recommendations and set renewed expectations for implementation across the ministry.

Officials were given fresh targets to accelerate the right sizing process, with the minister stressing timely execution and measurable outcomes. The discussions focused on aligning manpower and resources with operational needs while ensuring continuity of critical services during the transition.

In response to concerns over recent recruitments, the minister has sought an investigative report into the hiring of roughly 4,000 employees at Pakistan Post during the previous government. The review aims to verify procedures followed in those appointments and to recommend corrective action where necessary.

Ministry leadership was also directed to present an integrated business plan for Postal Life Insurance, linking the scheme’s operations to broader organisational reforms. The minister underscored that the right sizing agenda must be accompanied by sustainable business strategies for state-run services to improve efficiency and financial resilience.
