OIC-COMSTECH, together with Fatima Memorial Hospital and Noor International University in Islamabad, has initiated a month-long COMSTECH course to equip Palestinian civilians with basic life support and basic trauma management skills. The program aims to deliver practical, hands-on training in BLS, CPR and immediate trauma response while also addressing psychological first aid.
The one-month curriculum covers cardiopulmonary resuscitation, trauma management techniques and mental health support to help responders act effectively in emergency situations. Trainers from the partnering institutions will conduct in-person sessions in Islamabad, complemented by online lectures and case discussions from specialists in Gaza and other parts of Palestine.
Professor Iqbal Chaudhry described the effort as part of COMSTECH’s mission to empower communities through education and training, calling the initiative a direct investment in human resources to strengthen local capacity in emergency care. He emphasized that practical skill-building is essential for timely lifesaving interventions.
Experts joining online from Gaza and elsewhere in Palestine contributed clinical insights and field experience, enabling course participants to learn context-specific approaches to trauma and psychological support. This remote collaboration underscores the course’s aim to blend local training with international expertise.
The COMSTECH course reflects a broader commitment to solidarity with the Palestinian people and demonstrates how science and technology institutions can mobilize resources for humanitarian service. Organizers say the training is a step toward sustainable capacity building that places trained responders where they are most needed.
