Consul General Joins Pashtoon Culture Day

Consul General Aamer Atozai attended Pashtoon culture Day, praising Khyber Society and pledging support for diaspora cultural initiatives and heritage.

Aamer Ahmed Atozai, Consul General of Pakistan in New York, attended the Pashtoon Culture Day hosted by the Khyber Society of America, joining a broad gathering of local parliamentarians, assembly women, community leaders, professionals and journalists. The event drew Pakistani Americans and a large number of Pashtoons from across the United States who came together to celebrate music, art and cultural expressions that reflect the community’s traditional values.

In his remarks the Consul General commended the Khyber Society of America for sustained work on community welfare both in the United States and in Pakistan, noting the organisation’s role in promoting social cohesion and extending humanitarian assistance. He highlighted the Society’s efforts to preserve cultural identity among the diaspora and to support initiatives that uplift vulnerable members of the community.

Mr Atozai reflected on the deep roots of Pashtoon culture, describing it as distinguished by a strong sense of community, hospitality and resilience that reach back centuries. He emphasised that events like Pashtoon Culture Day strengthen bonds among overseas Pakistanis and foster mutual understanding between communities in host countries.

The Consulate General reaffirmed its support for programmes that promote Pakistan’s diverse cultural heritage and contribute to the wellbeing of the diaspora, encouraging continued collaboration between cultural organisations, elected representatives and community groups to sustain traditions and assist those in need.
