CPSP Convocation Honors 465 New Specialists

CPSP Convocation in Peshawar awards degrees to 465 specialists; read about graduates, dignitaries, and top honours at the event.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan held its 58th convocation in Peshawar on 7th December 2025, where the CPSP Convocation awarded degrees to more than 465 specialists, including 438 Fellows and 27 Members.

The ceremony opened with a recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the national anthem and was honoured by Chief Guest Prof. Najeeb ul Haq and Guest of Honour Prof. Miangul Mahmood Aurangzeb. Attendance included CPSP office bearers and council members from across provinces, heads of medical institutions, senior medical professionals and the proud parents of graduating Fellows.

Distinguished guests and former CPSP council members present were Prof. Abdul Samad, Prof. Nasir Saeed, Prof. Ataullah Jan, Prof. Mumtaz Ali Marwat, Dean Prof. Nasir Orakzai, Prof. Siddiq ur Rehman, Dr. Mir Alam Jan, Prof. Masood ur Rehman and Prof. Rashid, alongside senior officers from the Army Medical Corps and other medical leadership.

Organising committee members included Controller of Examination CPSP Muhammad Faisal Khan, Prof. Amber, GM Faqir Gul Shah, Dr. Jawad Hameed and Dr. Attaullah Khan. Regional Director CPSP Peshawar Prof. Waqar Alam Jan administered the oath to the new Fellows and urged them to uphold professionalism, honesty and service to humanity.

The Gold Medal for highest achievement in orthopaedics was awarded to Dr. Muhammad Osama, with the citation presented by Regional Director Abbottabad Muhammad Jahangir Khan. The recognition underscored the emphasis the CPSP places on excellence within specialist training.

In his welcome address, CPSP President Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal congratulated all Fellows and their families, noting that CPSP postgraduate programmes enjoy recognition in the UK, Ireland, the Middle East and South Asia. He reiterated CPSP’s commitment to maintaining high standards in higher medical education and to producing specialist doctors to serve Pakistan’s healthcare needs.

Guest of Honour Prof. Miangul Mahmood Aurangzeb commended CPSP for transparency and high standards in postgraduate evaluation and said the new Fellows will strengthen Pakistan’s healthcare system with knowledge and compassion. Chief Guest Prof. Najeeb ul Haq also praised CPSP’s role in medical education and urged graduates to serve humanity with dedication and honesty.

Degrees were formally conferred by Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal and Prof. Muhammad Shoaib Shafi, Senior Vice President CPSP, after which guests received shields and a group photograph was taken with all Fellows, the President and council members. The CPSP Convocation in Peshawar marked an important milestone, reflecting the college’s continued contribution to the development of medical education in Pakistan.
