CUST Convocation Awards 1323 Degrees

CUST Convocation awards degrees to 1,323 graduates across programs including PhD, MS, BS and professional degrees — read ceremony highlights and top achievers.

The Capital University of Science and Technology held its convocation at the Convention Centre where 1,323 graduates received degrees across undergraduate, graduate and professional programs. The CUST Convocation recognised achievements in BBA, MBA, BS, PharmD, MS and PhD programs spanning Management Sciences, Electrical, Civil and Mechanical Engineering, Computer and Software Engineering, Engineering and Project Management, Computer Science, Biosciences, Biotechnology and Microbiology.

The ceremony was presided over by Executive Director Prof Sohail Afzal with Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi as the chief guest. In his inaugural remarks Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mansoor Ahmed welcomed the graduates and underlined the university’s role in higher education. He said education raises productivity and efficiency, builds skilled manpower and is essential for the country’s economic development.

Hanif Abbasi told the gathering that education is the key to success and national development and urged citizens to set aside personal differences and work together for Pakistan’s progress. He expressed solidarity with the armed forces and said unity strengthens the nation’s resolve to face external challenges.

Among the 25 PhD recipients were scholars from Management Sciences such as Muhammad Ali Malik, Fizza Asif, Anum Shafique and Mahboob Khan; from Electrical Engineering Waqas Toor, Mohsin Ullah and Qumrish Arooj; from Civil Engineering Sajjad Shuker Ullah, Aaroon Joshua Das, Mustafa Sultan and Usman Shahid; from Computer Science Ibrar Ahmed, Bilal Khan, Ehtsham Irshad and Shahid Khan; from Mathematics Shahana Rizvi and Areej Fatima; and from Biosciences Qasim Khan, Sobia Khurshid, Naveed Soomro, Faiqa Rashid, Imran Khan, Iqra Bashir, Rukhsana Tabassum and Sabahat Javid.

The university also honoured 90 top position holders with gold, silver and bronze medals. The prestigious Jinnah Gold Medal for overall best performance was awarded to Qurat-ul-Ain Fatima of the BS English program. The CUST Convocation highlighted both wide participation across disciplines and individual academic excellence as graduates prepare to contribute to Pakistan’s workforce and research community.
