During her first official visit to Karachi, Danish Ambassador Maja Derrous Mortensen met with leading Danish firms operating in Pakistan to review ongoing projects and operations. The discussions with Novonesis, Shipco and DSV highlighted practical insights into bio-solutions, international shipping and complex logistics chains, with company representatives sharing their experience of managing large-scale operations across Pakistan.
The Danish Ambassador also held meetings with key Pakistani partners that support Danish businesses locally. A session with MAJ International explored collaborations with Danish names such as Arla Foods, Palsgaard, AAL and Novonesis, while engagement with Soorty Enterprises underlined the importance of Pakistan’s textile and denim sector as a supplier to Danish brand Bestseller and other global labels.
As part of Denmark’s development cooperation, the Ambassador attended a Danish-funded workshop organised by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute focused on Mainstreaming Climate Action in Economic and Fiscal Planning. The workshop forms part of broader Danish support for advancing Pakistan’s Climate Prosperity Plan under an SDG-focused initiative, signalling an emphasis on linking climate policy with economic planning.
The visit concluded with a courtesy call on the Governor of Sindh, Kamran Tessori, where both sides discussed practical avenues for expanding Danish-Pakistani collaboration in Sindh, including potential investment, trade facilitation and sustainable projects that can support local livelihoods and industrial growth.
Overall, the Karachi visit reinforced existing partnerships and identified shared priorities between Denmark and Pakistan, with the Danish Ambassador stressing a common vision for sustainable growth, resilient supply chains and deeper commercial ties that benefit both countries.
