Danyal Chaudhry calls on the legal community to defend the rule of law, pledging judicial reforms, support for lawyers and humanitarian aid for Gaza.

Speaking outside the Rawalpindi Judicial Complex on November 1, 2025, Barrister Danyal Chaudhry, Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, appealed to Pakistan’s legal community to play an active role in defending the rule of law and strengthening democratic institutions.

He stressed that sustained collaboration between the government and lawyers is essential to protect citizens’ rights and improve the delivery of justice. With the Punjab Bar Council elections approaching, Chaudhry said the outcome will shape the legal landscape and influence judicial independence across the province. He pointed to the recent success of a government-supported panel in the Supreme Court Bar Association elections as evidence of the legal fraternity’s commitment to stability, justice and the supremacy of law.

On foreign policy concerns, Chaudhry reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast support for the people of Palestine and highlighted special concern for the children of Gaza. He said Pakistan has consistently called for a ceasefire and better humanitarian access, and that the country stands ready to assist affected civilians and represent their plight in international forums.

Turning to regional security, Chaudhry confirmed that Pakistan has completed three detailed rounds of talks with Afghan authorities focused on counterterrorism and regional stability. He emphasised that terrorism remains an unequivocal red line for Pakistan and that no compromise will be tolerated on this issue.

Addressing tensions with India, Chaudhry condemned alleged proxy and terrorist activities emanating from across the border and warned that Pakistan will respond decisively to any threats on its soil. He noted that the current government’s focus on stability and development has frustrated some adversarial agendas, but affirmed that Pakistan remains committed to progress while safeguarding national security and the rule of law.

On local development, Chaudhry announced the revival of the long-delayed Kachahri Chowk project in Rawalpindi and unveiled plans to build two parking plazas for lawyers, new chambers and a signal-free road to ease traffic and improve public convenience. He said these steps aim to modernise legal infrastructure and support the working needs of the legal fraternity.

Reflecting on economic performance, Chaudhry credited the PML-N government under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif with steering the country away from a severe crisis, achieving macroeconomic stability and restoring international credibility—measures he described as important for sustaining judicial and institutional reforms.
