Islamabad’s District Health Office and the Ministry of Health have launched targeted dengue prevention activities in high-risk areas of Union Council Bhara Kahu. Over the past three days, vector control teams visited 2,460 households as part of an extensive effort to curb the spread of the mosquito-borne virus.

Teams carried out a range of activities during these visits, including door-to-door surveillance to identify and eliminate larvae, conducting anti-mosquito spraying, tracing and monitoring dengue patients, inspecting water storage facilities, cleaning open containers, and conducting spot checks. Community awareness sessions were also organized to encourage preventive measures among local residents.

These thorough interventions have resulted in a significant decline in reported dengue cases in the affected neighborhoods. The District Health Office has reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing surveillance and rapid response throughout Islamabad, aiming to keep the outbreak under control and minimize public health risks.

Authorities have also urged the public to take proactive steps to protect themselves from dengue. Recommendations include regularly cleaning water containers, tanks, plant pots, coolers, and refrigerator trays; wearing clothing that covers the arms; using mosquito repellents and sprays; sleeping under mosquito nets; and installing screens on windows and doors. Public cooperation is considered essential in the fight against dengue, with health officials stressing that prevention begins at home.
