District health authorities and federal vector control teams have launched intensified dengue control operations across Islamabad, carrying out house-to-house surveillance, larval elimination, spraying and community awareness activities to curb the risk of an outbreak.
Teams from the District Health Office Islamabad and the Ministry of Health’s vector control units are conducting door-to-door surveillance to identify and destroy mosquito larvae, perform targeted spraying and fogging, trace suspected patients, inspect water storage sites and clean open containers. Community awareness sessions are being held to educate residents on prevention and early detection.
District Population Welfare Officer Muhammad Ayub visited several union councils to review operations and instructed teams to accelerate and improve the effectiveness of dengue-control measures. Special operations have been activated to reduce outbreak risk and ensure rapid response in high-risk areas.
District authorities say standard operating procedures are being strictly enforced; violators face heavy fines and, in some cases, first information reports have been filed. The administration is urging residents to cooperate with teams and follow recommended precautions to prevent the spread of dengue.
Recommended preventive measures include cleaning water-holding containers, tanks, plant pots, coolers and refrigerator trays daily; wearing long-sleeved clothing; using mosquito sprays and repellents; sleeping under bed nets; and fitting screens on windows and doors. Authorities emphasize that dengue prevention requires public participation and urge everyone to take these precautions to stay safe.
