Senior health officials conducted an inspection of ongoing dengue prevention efforts in Islamabad’s Union Council Bara Kahu, emphasizing the city’s commitment to controlling the spread of the mosquito-borne disease. Dr. Ayesha Isani, Director General Health at the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination, and Dr. Syeda Rashida Batool, District Health Officer Islamabad, led the visit to oversee the operations.

During their inspection, the officials reviewed a range of field activities, including door-to-door surveillance, indoor and outdoor insecticidal spraying, larva detection, and fogging. They also took part in community and school awareness sessions aimed at educating the public about preventive measures. The health teams examined over 1,800 households in UC Bara Kahu within two days, reflecting the scale and intensity of the anti-dengue drive.

Dr. Isani commended the field teams and the District Health Office Islamabad for their dedication and hard work. She highlighted the importance of effective monitoring and quick response as key strategies in reducing the risk of dengue outbreaks in the city. Community engagement and public awareness are being prioritized to encourage residents to take preventive actions.

The health authorities continue to urge citizens to adopt simple but effective measures against dengue, such as regularly cleaning water containers, wearing full-sleeve clothing, using mosquito repellents, sleeping under nets, and installing window and door screens. Officials reiterated that community vigilance and cooperation are essential in safeguarding public health against dengue.
