Islamabad’s District Health Office, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Health Services and the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, has launched an intensive dengue prevention campaign in the high-risk areas of Union Council Bhara Kahu. Led by Dr. Mazhar, the district’s dengue focal person, and entomologist Aizaz Khan, the campaign included special awareness walks and comprehensive dengue control operations.

During the campaign, health teams conducted door-to-door surveillance and inspected over 900 households to check for potential mosquito breeding sites. Measures such as larva control, indoor spraying, and public awareness programs were carried out to curb the spread of dengue in the community.

Officials emphasized the importance of community participation in preventing the spread of dengue. People have been advised to take simple preventive measures, such as keeping water containers, tanks, flower pots, coolers, and fridge trays clean and dry on a daily basis. Residents are also urged to wear long-sleeved clothing, use mosquito repellents and sprays, sleep under mosquito nets, and install protective screens on windows and doors.

The District Health Office teams continue to actively monitor and respond to dengue risks across Islamabad, stressing that with proper precautions and awareness, the threat of dengue can be significantly reduced.
