On October 22, 2025 the Department of Mathematics at RWU hosted a seminar on Mathematics and AI featuring Dr Ayesha Rafiq, Assistant Professor at the Institute of Space Technology Islamabad. Dr Rafiq delivered an engaging and insightful talk on the fundamental role of mathematics in shaping artificial intelligence models and algorithms.
She highlighted applications in data analysis, predictive modeling and mathematical problem solving, demonstrating how mathematical theory and techniques underpin the development of intelligent systems used across research and industry. Her examples connected abstract mathematical concepts to practical AI workflows relevant for students and researchers in Pakistan.
The session proved both inspiring and informative, encouraging students to explore the deep connection between mathematics and emerging technologies and to consider further study or research in this field. Attendees left with a clearer sense of how mastery of mathematics strengthens work in artificial intelligence and data-driven innovation.
