Deputy Chief of Mission Zachary H. Ryder made a parliament visit to Islamabad, receiving a detailed Senate briefing and touring the Senate Museum.

13 November 2025 saw Deputy Chief of Mission Zachary Harkin Ryder arrive at Parliament House Islamabad accompanied by his parents, Gregory L. Harkin Ryder and Karen S. Harkin Ryder, for an official parliament visit.

Senior Director General of the Senate Secretariat Tariq bin Waheed welcomed the delegation and provided a comprehensive briefing on the parliamentary process, the Senate’s constitutional and legislative role, parliamentary traditions and the established procedures of the upper house. The briefing highlighted how the Senate functions within Pakistan’s legislative framework and its role in lawmaking and oversight.

The visit included detailed remarks on Pakistan’s democratic history and the historical evolution of the Senate. The delegation toured the Senate Museum where a documentary on the country’s parliamentary and constitutional development was screened, offering historical context to the parliament visit and illustrating key milestones in legislative practice.

The guests also observed the Senate chamber and were shown the working environment of the upper house. Following the programme, the visiting delegation expressed deep appreciation for the extensive briefing and hospitality extended by the Senate Secretariat.

The visit was described by officials as a positive example of promoting parliamentary traditions, reinforcing democratic values and strengthening people-to-people and institutional ties between visiting representatives and Pakistan’s legislative institutions.
