Residents of Union Council 31 in Dhok Hakmdad, Rawalpindi, continue to face persistent disruption as water repeatedly enters the area’s gas pipelines. Despite repeated complaints, the problem remains unresolved and households report daily interruptions to their gas supply.
Zaheer Ahmad Awan, chairman of the Citizen Action Committee, told reporters that Sui Gas crews previously excavated lanes and laid new lines after initial complaints, but the water intrusion has continued even in the recently replaced gas pipelines. He said the failure to stop the flow of water points to a deeper operational or infrastructure issue.
Locals say every morning they must first drain water from the gas pipelines before gas becomes usable, a routine that causes delays and tangible financial loss for families who rely on morning gas for cooking and small businesses that depend on steady fuel supply. The daily inconvenience has left many residents frustrated and exhausted.
Community members have filed multiple written complaints at the Sui Gas office, but they say no practical measures have been taken so far. If the situation is not addressed promptly, residents — including women, children and the elderly — plan to stage a protest sit-in outside the Sui Gas office to press for a swift resolution.
Locals are appealing directly to the Federal Minister for Energy and the Managing Director of Sui Gas to take personal notice and implement immediate corrective steps to stop water entering the gas pipelines and restore reliable service in Dhok Hakmdad.
