Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain called for rapid industrial modernization and wider adoption of digital technologies to secure Pakistan’s place in global manufacturing during his keynote at the International Summit on Redefining Digital Manufacturing. He praised Octave Technology Solutions for organizing the summit and highlighted government initiatives aimed at driving digital transformation, boosting high-tech hubs, and supporting youth and entrepreneurs.
Rana Tanveer Hussain told delegates that manufacturing has long been a backbone of national economies, but competitiveness today depends on embracing digital tools, automation, and advanced engineering. He warned that production capacity alone will not suffice in an interconnected global market and urged industry to adopt technologies such as 3D scanning, reverse engineering, additive manufacturing, and precision metrology that are reshaping manufacturing worldwide.
The minister outlined a range of government measures designed to accelerate digital industrialization. He highlighted the creation of the Pakistan Digital Authority as an apex body to guide the national digital transformation, develop a national digital masterplan, establish governance standards, and enable Industry 4.0 adoption. He also pointed to Special Technology Zones Authority efforts to develop high-tech hubs like Islamabad Technopolis to foster research, digital manufacturing, and international partnerships.
Rana Tanveer Hussain said the Engineering Development Board is intensifying efforts to upgrade the industrial sector, especially within automotive, machinery, and engineering value chains. He noted that the National Aerospace Science & Technology Park, recently inaugurated, is positioning Pakistan as a center for aerospace, cyber, and frontier technologies. He added that the broader Digital Pakistan Initiative is expanding connectivity, encouraging innovation, and creating new opportunities for entrepreneurship and youth development.
The minister singled out Octave Technology Solutions as a homegrown pioneer in digital manufacturing, commending the company for introducing advanced services in 3D scanning, reverse engineering, and digital prototyping. He said indigenous firms like OTS play a critical role in filling gaps in the national innovation ecosystem and demonstrating how local technology providers can drive transformation.
Closing his remarks, Rana Tanveer Hussain expressed confidence that the summit would spur long-term partnerships and practical strategies to accelerate Pakistan’s transition to a technology-driven industrial base. He emphasized that continued knowledge exchange and collaboration between government, industry, and academia will be essential to building competitiveness and sustainable economic growth.
