Diya Women Football Club organized an Intra-Branch 6-a-side football tournament at Maidaan KMC in Karachi to mark Women’s Day and Women’s Month. The two-day event, held from March 16 to 17, brought together around five intra-branch teams representing different areas of the city and roughly 40 players competing in spirited matches.
The competition saw Team Nishtar Road claim first place after a series of competitive games, while Metroville finished as runner-up and Gulzare Hijri secured third place. The tournament format gave local players a platform to showcase their skills and experience match play under the banner of community football.
Trophies were presented by Dr. Sadia Sheikh, Founder and President of the club, alongside Ms. Naila, Vice President, and coordinators Chinee Gul and Karimullah. Organizers emphasized the importance of providing more opportunities for women to participate in football at the grassroots level across Karachi.
The event highlighted Diya Women Football’s ongoing efforts to promote the game among women and to celebrate the achievements of female athletes in the city. The intra-branch tournament offered a competitive but supportive environment that reinforced the club’s commitment to growing women’s football locally.
