DRAP drove reform-focused regulatory dialogue at Health Asia 2025 in Karachi, advancing medical devices, bioequivalence, PIC/S compliance and track & trace adoption.

DRAP presented a reform-driven, science-based and technology-enabled vision for healthcare regulation at Health Asia 2025 held at the Karachi Expo Centre, convening policymakers, industry leaders and healthcare professionals for a series of high-impact technical sessions.

The authority outlined a clear push to boost indigenous manufacturing of medical devices while strengthening bioequivalence studies to ensure therapeutic reliability. Discussions also emphasized ethical pharmaceutical marketing to promote integrity and patient-centered practices, and a renewed drive toward PIC/S and GMP alignment to raise quality standards in line with global norms.

Delegates heard plans to deploy digital oversight tools including Track & Trace using 2D barcodes to enhance patient safety and supply chain transparency. Speakers highlighted how technology-enabled regulation can support both market surveillance and local industry competitiveness without compromising on international compliance.

The Honourable Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal and Baluchistan Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar attended as chief guests and commended DRAP’s leadership, stressing the importance of localizing therapeutic goods production while adhering to international quality benchmarks. Their participation reinforced government support for regulatory modernization and capacity building in the health sector.

A large assembly of healthcare professionals, academicians and industry representatives engaged in interactive sessions that promoted collaboration, transparency and a shared commitment to advancing quality, safety and innovation in Pakistan’s therapeutic goods regulation. The event reaffirmed DRAP’s role as a reform-oriented, globally aligned and patient-focused regulator working to drive the country toward excellence and self-reliance.
