easypaisa digital bank celebrates its first anniversary and unveils a global remittance tie-up enabling transfers from 100+ countries into customer accounts.

In 2025 easypaisa digital bank processed more than 3.8 billion transactions worth over PKR 15 trillion as it celebrated the completion of its first year of digital banking at an annual stakeholder dinner in Islamabad.

The event drew federal ministers, regulators, policymakers, business leaders and media, and underscored easypaisa digital bank’s expanding role in broadening access to digital finance across Pakistan. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, congratulated the bank and said, “The promotion of the digital economy is a top priority of the government as instructed by the Prime Minister. Concrete steps are being taken to advance and strengthen the digital economy.” She noted that accelerated digitization and rising IT exports were positive signs and that 5G is planned to launch next year.

During the evening easypaisa announced a strategic partnership with Ant International’s WorldFirst platform to extend Pakistan’s global remittance and payments connectivity. The collaboration will allow easypaisa customers to receive cross-border payments and remittances from more than 100 countries in over 100 currencies directly into their accounts, expanding reach beyond traditional corridors such as the GCC, the UK and the US and offering new support for freelancers, exporters and overseas Pakistanis.

Bilal Azhar Kayani, Minister of State for Finance, emphasized that the presence of digital finance practitioners is crucial for effective policymaking and stressed the importance of demonstrating tangible on-the-ground benefits of a cashless economy. Board Chairman Irfan Wahab Khan described the milestone as a point of pride for Pakistan’s financial ecosystem, while Douglas Feagin, President of Ant International, reaffirmed Ant Group’s long-term commitment to building a more inclusive digital financial future in Pakistan. The occasion was hosted by Irfan Wahab Khan alongside Ant International President Douglas Feagin and easypaisa President & CEO Jahanzeb Khan.

easypaisa digital bank now serves roughly one in every five Pakistanis and reports that women make up 31 percent of its user base, highlighting progress on financial inclusion. The bank’s activity contributes to a landscape where digital transactions are estimated to account for around 11 percent of Pakistan’s GDP, reinforcing easypaisa’s role in driving digital payments, financial inclusion and economic formalization nationwide.

Backed by shareholders Telenor Group and Ant Group, easypaisa continues to position itself as Pakistan’s first digital bank delivering secure and convenient financial solutions to millions of customers while expanding international payment and remittance options for users across the country.
