The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), in partnership with the Republic of Azerbaijan, has hosted its inaugural Youth Forum in the city of Aghdam, bringing together young leaders, experts, and policymakers from across ECO member states. The event, themed “Enhancing the Role of Youth for Building a Sustainable and Climate-Resilient Future,” focused on empowering youth to play a central role in addressing environmental challenges and advancing sustainable development throughout the region.
The historic gathering provided a dynamic platform for inclusive dialogue, enabling participants to exchange ideas and develop forward-thinking policy recommendations. Attendees included representatives from youth organizations, climate experts, and key policymakers, all working collaboratively to enhance youth involvement in climate action, environmental governance, innovation, and regional cooperation.
Central to the forum’s agenda was the commitment to the objectives outlined in ECO Vision 2035, which prioritizes inclusivity, sustainability, and resilience as foundational principles for regional progress. Discussions at the event emphasized the importance of youth leadership in building climate-resilient communities and explored tangible strategies for fostering environmental consciousness among younger generations across ECO member states.
The program featured a series of workshops, panel sessions, and networking opportunities designed to spark cross-border partnerships and promote youth-led initiatives. Participants highlighted the critical need for equipping young people with the tools, knowledge, and institutional backing required to effectively confront the climate crisis and contribute to sustainable growth.
The successful organization of the First ECO Youth Forum underscores the organization’s strong commitment to youth empowerment and cements ECO’s role as a key facilitator of collaborative climate resilience efforts throughout the region.
