Russia has strongly condemned recent Israeli airstrikes on a residential area of Doha that reportedly killed six people, including a Qatari Interior Ministry official, calling the attacks a violation of international law and warning they risk undermining mediation efforts and further destabilizing the region. Moscow urged restraint, repeated its demand for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, and insisted any lasting solution to the Palestinian issue must be grounded in international law.

The Russian Foreign Ministry, speaking through its embassy in Pakistan, said the strikes targeted senior Hamas leadership and struck a civilian neighborhood in Qatar’s capital. Reports say six people were killed and several others wounded, among them an official from Qatar’s Interior Ministry.

Russia described the operation as a blatant breach of international law and the United Nations Charter, framing it as an assault on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of an independent state. The statement warned the attacks increase the risk of greater tension and instability across the Middle East and said such tactics merit the strongest condemnation.

The ministry noted that Qatar has been playing a key mediation role in indirect talks between Hamas and Israeli leadership aimed at ending the nearly two-year conflict in Gaza and securing the release of prisoners. Moscow argued the strikes undermine international peace efforts and could weaken prospects for a negotiated settlement.

Reiterating its long-standing position, Russia called on all parties to act responsibly and refrain from measures that would further deteriorate conditions or complicate political resolution. The statement renewed Russia’s demand for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and emphasized that a comprehensive, durable settlement of the Palestinian issue must be based on established international legal principles.
