The Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has successfully launched the Emissions Testing System (ETS) in the federal capital, Islamabad, in collaboration with authorities in Islamabad. A special ETS squad, dispatched from Punjab by EPA Director General Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh, conducted extensive emissions testing for vehicles used by Islamabad’s Transport Department and the Deputy Commissioner’s office, simultaneously providing on-ground training to the local Transportation Department officials.

During the inauguration, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Irfan Memon actively participated by having his official vehicle tested for emissions. Upon successful completion of the emissions test, the Deputy Commissioner himself placed the compliance sticker on his vehicle, symbolizing his commitment to environmental protection and air quality standards in Islamabad.

Expressing gratitude, Deputy Commissioner Memon thanked the Director General of Punjab EPA, Dr. Imran Hamid Sheikh, for extending technical cooperation and training support. He appreciated the agency’s efforts and recognized their initiative as a vital step toward a cleaner environment and public health promotion.

This collaborative effort underscores Punjab EPA’s continued commitment to improving air quality standards and promoting greener transportation policies. The introduction of ETS aims to serve as a meaningful step toward monitoring and reducing vehicle emissions across the capital, demonstrating a successful inter-provincial cooperation for environmental sustainability.
