The World Health Organization (WHO) in Pakistan, in collaboration with the Government of Pakistan, has launched a major polio vaccination drive in Balochistan, aiming to protect more than 630,000 children under the age of five. This coordinated effort is part of the ongoing mission to eradicate polio in the country.
As part of this initiative, WHO is supporting the deployment of approximately 6,000 vaccinators across seven districts in Balochistan. The teams are tasked with administering both injectable polio vaccines and oral polio drops, ensuring comprehensive protection for the targeted age group.
This vaccination campaign represents a critical step in the fight against polio, a disease that continues to pose health risks in certain regions of Pakistan. The mobilization of such a large workforce underscores the commitment of both international and local health authorities to eliminate the disease.
Officials involved in the campaign have emphasized the importance of community engagement and parental cooperation to reach every eligible child. Public health experts stress that widespread immunization remains the most effective tool in the quest to end polio transmission in Pakistan, contributing to the global effort of complete eradication.
