H.E. Kamran Tessori, Governor of Sindh, conferred an Honorary PhD degree and a gold medal on H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Pakistan, at a convocation of Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology held at the Governor House Sindh.

Governor Tessori praised the Ambassador for his work in strengthening Ethiopia Pakistan ties and for fostering closer diplomatic and commercial engagements between the two countries.

The Governor highlighted the Ambassador’s pivotal role in commencing Ethiopian Airlines operations in Pakistan, noting that expanded air links have supported Pakistan’s Look Africa and Engage Africa policies and opened new channels for trade and people-to-people contacts. The move was described as a tangible step in deepening Ethiopia Pakistan ties.

Ambassador Dr. Jemal expressed gratitude for the honour and recognition, calling the Governor a β€œFriend of Ethiopia” for his support in establishing the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad, facilitating exchanges of official and business delegations, and enabling the launch of Ethiopian Airlines services in Karachi.

Following the convocation, both sides held meetings to review expanding cooperation across trade, investment, aviation, environment, education, health, culture and tourism. They agreed to build on recent progress and to intensify collaboration to further strengthen Ethiopia Pakistan ties in the months ahead.
