Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with a senior delegation from the UAE-based Etisalat Group, led by its Group CEO Hatem Dowidar, to discuss avenues for further investment in Pakistan’s information and communication technology (ICT) and telecom sectors, highlighting Pakistan’s expanding digital economy and commitment to business-friendly policies.
During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister underscored the significance of Pakistan’s rapidly growing digital economy and assured the government’s full support in establishing a favourable environment for foreign investment. He specifically invited the Etisalat Group to expand and diversify its presence in Pakistan, expressing the government’s readiness to facilitate investments aimed at enhancing digital infrastructure, connectivity, and technological innovation in the ICT and telecom sectors.
Appreciating Pakistan’s proactive approach toward digitalization and investment facilitation, Etisalat Group CEO Hatem Dowidar praised the government’s consistent efforts in supporting foreign investors. He reiterated Etisalat Group’s longstanding commitment to Pakistan’s telecommunications market and conveyed his company’s keen interest in further contributing to the nation’s digital growth and increasing connectivity.
The meeting was attended by key Pakistani officials, including the Minister for Information Technology, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) Tariq Bajwa, the National Coordinator of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), as well as the secretaries from the Ministries of Information Technology & Commerce, and Privatization. Senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also present during the discussion.
