The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) has introduced the Transport Projects Observatory, a new platform designed to oversee and coordinate more than $234 billion in infrastructure investments across 13 countries in the Eurasian region. This initiative focuses on improving transportation connectivity through the monitoring of 325 development projects.
The Transport Projects Observatory features an extensive database and an interactive map, serving both as an analytical tool and a coordination platform. It enables stakeholders to evaluate investment needs, track the progress of projects, and synchronize national and international efforts for efficient transport corridor development. The information in the Observatory is compiled from various open data sources, including national transport programs, press releases, and specialist assessments.
The creation of the Observatory is part of a larger strategy to implement the Eurasian Transport Network (ETN), a concept put forward by the EDB to promote collaborative approaches to infrastructure development. The ETN emphasizes integration between major West–East and North–South corridors, aiming to maximize regional connectivity and economic benefits by creating a more seamless transportation network across Eurasia.
