Dr Shabeen Naz Masood praised an excellent presentation by Prof Sher Shah and Swedish Dr Martin on how to avoid the first caesarean section during a session held in Larkana and organised by Prof Shahida Shaikh.
The speakers focused on pragmatic approaches to prevent an unnecessary first caesarean, emphasising informed patient counselling, careful clinical decision making and coordinated care among obstetric teams. Their presentation highlighted the importance of local adaptation of best practices so that clinicians in Sindh can apply measures suited to Larkana hospitals and clinics.
Attendees were urged to prioritise strategies that reduce the need for a first caesarean through clearer indications, improved communication with patients and collaborative labour management. Dr Shabeen Naz Masood described the talk as excellent and encouraged colleagues to put the discussed measures into practice to improve maternal care and reduce avoidable first caesarean interventions.
