Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal took a highly visible step to counter growing negative campaigns against the HPV vaccine by having his daughter vaccinated in front of the media. The public demonstration was intended to reassure families across Pakistan about the safety and importance of immunisation against human papillomavirus.
The minister addressed concerns directly, asking, “If it were harmful, would we give it to our own children?” His statement and the decision to bring his daughter on camera were presented as a clear effort to put misinformation to rest and encourage parents to consider the HPV vaccine for their children.
Dr. Shama Junejo, a vocal advocate for the vaccine, welcomed the move and said, “All negative propaganda against the HPV vaccine has been shut down!” The minister’s personal involvement and the subsequent support on social media were described by supporters as a significant step toward restoring public confidence and protecting future generations from preventable disease.
