The Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat for Protection Against Harassment held an awareness session at the National Highways and Motorway Police Training College in Sheikhupura to brief officers on workplace harassment laws and the mechanisms available for redress. The event emphasized that ensuring a safe, dignified and equal work environment is a shared responsibility of all personnel.

The session was attended by senior and mid-level police officers, including Superintendents of Police, Deputy Superintendents of Police, Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors from the National Highways and Motorway Police. Organizers aimed to strengthen understanding of legal obligations and complaint procedures among those responsible for maintaining discipline and workplace safety.

Federal Ombudsperson Ms. Fauzia Viqar delivered the keynote address, urging officers to actively use legal mechanisms to address and resolve incidents of harassment. She underscored the principle that a safe workplace is a fundamental right for every employee.

The awareness program, led by the Secretariat’s Law Officer Mr. Mohsin Sheikh, reviewed the Protection Against Harassment at the Workplace Act and the broader legal framework on harassment and gender-based discrimination. Presentations focused on recognizing prohibited conduct, the processes for reporting and investigating complaints, and the institutional duties to uphold dignity and equality at work.

Officials called for continued training and enforcement to ensure that anti-harassment policies are effectively implemented across the force, and encouraged officers to support victims and take proactive steps to maintain a respectful and safe working environment.
