FG Polo win the 49th Aibak Polo Cup 7½–4 over Diamond Paints; match summary, standout players and awards at Lahore Polo Club during Basant festivities.

FG Polo secured the 49th Aibak Polo Cup with a commanding 7½–4 victory over Diamond Paints in a high-energy final at the Lahore Polo Club, drawing large crowds who came out to enjoy top-level polo alongside Basant celebrations.

The winners combined clinical finishing with cohesive teamwork. Raja Mikayial Sami delivered a remarkable performance, netting four goals and finishing as the tournament’s top scorer, an effort that earned him a 55-inch QLED TV. Marcos Rivarola supported the charge with a brilliant hat-trick and was named Most Valuable Player, taking home a 65-inch QLED TV. FG Polo also benefited from a half-goal handicap advantage that contributed to the final margin.

Diamond Paints mounted a determined challenge but fell short. Lao Abelenda led their attack with three goals while Mohammad Ali Malik added one, but the deficit proved too large to overcome against a well-drilled FG Polo side.

The prize distribution ceremony recognised individual and team excellence, with the best playing pony award going to Mustaza, owned by Mian Abbas Mukhtar, which was presented with a 55-inch QLED TV for outstanding agility and stamina. The event was attended by a number of dignitaries, and the chief guest, Ms. Natalie A. Baker, Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy, praised the quality of the polo and the festive atmosphere, saying, “It is wonderful to be here at the Lahore Polo Club. Watching such high-quality polo amidst the vibrant Basant festivities and the beautiful Lahore weather has been a truly exhilarating experience.”

Earlier in the day the subsidiary final produced its own excitement as BN Polo edged past SQ Seagold 8–6, setting the tone for a full day of competitive action for players, families and polo fans. The 49th Aibak Polo Cup once again underscored the Lahore Polo Club’s central role in Pakistan’s polo calendar and highlighted emerging stars and established talent alike.
