**FIA Arrests Two Former PARC Officials Over Illegal Appointments and Abuse of Power**
The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle in Islamabad has arrested two former senior officials of the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) on charges of illegal recruitment and abuse of authority. The arrests follow an investigation into the recruitment of hundreds of individuals in violation of official procedures.
According to the FIA spokesperson, the individuals taken into custody include Ghulam Muhammad Ali, who previously served as Chairman of PARC, and Ikhlaq Ahmed, the Council’s former Director of Establishment. Both have been accused of making illegal appointments and misusing their official powers during their tenure.
Investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly recruited 332 individuals against only 164 approved positions at PARC, circumventing government regulations and established hiring protocols. This gross violation of recruitment laws has raised serious concerns about governance and transparency within the organization.
The FIA has commenced further interrogation of the suspects to ascertain the full extent of the alleged illegal activities. Raids are ongoing to apprehend other officials and staff believed to be involved in the case.
The arrested individuals are scheduled to be presented before a court, where the FIA will seek their physical remand to facilitate further investigation. The case underscores the federal agency’s commitment to tackling corruption and unlawful practices in public sector organizations.
