The Finance Minister visit opens a packed six-day schedule in which Islamabad will be represented across high-level forums and bilateral meetings.
During the visit the minister will represent Pakistan in the IMF and World Bank plenary sessions, meeting senior officials from the IMF, World Bank, the International Finance Corporation and MIGA. A key engagement on the agenda is an in-person meeting with World Bank President Ajay Banga, and participation in a dinner hosted by Mr. Banga for select finance ministers.
The Finance Minister visit also includes a series of engagements with IMF leadership at G24 and MENAP platforms, where Senator Aurangzeb is scheduled to meet IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and deliver a keynote address to the MENAP forum. These sessions will provide a venue to outline Pakistan’s priorities on macroeconomic stability and regional cooperation.
On tax modernization and digital reform, the minister will join a World Bank regional roundtable focused on the Federal Board of Revenue’s digital transformation, where FBR officials and international tax authorities will discuss reforms and shared experiences. The discussion is expected to highlight Pakistan’s plans to modernize revenue systems and attract compliance-enhancing investment.
Beyond the financial institutions, Senator Aurangzeb’s itinerary includes participation in two World Economic Forum events and meetings with counterparts from China, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Azerbaijan. Bilateral discussions with senior officials at the White House, the US State and Treasury Departments and the Development Finance Corporation are also part of the schedule, alongside a planned meeting with the Chair of the US House Financial Services Committee.
The Finance Minister visit will engage private sector stakeholders as well, with meetings arranged with the US‑Pakistan Business Council to discuss tax proposals and investment opportunities, and discussions planned with global credit rating agencies and commercial banks, including banks that represent Middle Eastern investor interests. Senator Aurangzeb will address various investment forums and seminars to present Pakistan’s economic outlook to international investors.
Senator Aurangzeb will visit prominent Washington think tanks including the Atlantic Council and the Peterson Institute for International Economics, meet leaders of the Pakistani community and grant interviews to selected international and US media outlets. Across more than 65 scheduled events, forums and meetings, the Finance Minister visit aims to reinforce Pakistan’s engagement with multilateral institutions and global investors.
