Pakistan’s Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal has ordered an immediate emergency medical response in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), regions that have been severely affected by recent floods. He directed all health institutions under the ministry to mobilize resources and ensure swift delivery of medicines, vaccines, and essential healthcare to communities impacted by the disaster.

The Health Ministry is coordinating closely with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and provincial governments to guarantee timely relief efforts. Kamal stressed that health facilities must be urgently provided to all flood victims, reaffirming the government’s commitment to stand by affected families during this crisis.

A first consignment of medical supplies has already been sent to the flood-hit areas. The shipment includes 250,000 doses of pentavalent vaccine, 150,000 doses of measles and rubella vaccine, 291,500 syringes, and 3,000 safety boxes. To address potential outbreaks of waterborne diseases, the package also contains 30,000 malaria rapid diagnostic test kits, 60,000 primaquine tablets, and 10,000 specialized mosquito nets.

Health authorities remain on high alert, working with provincial partners to manage the emergency effectively. Minister Kamal assured families impacted by the floods that they will receive ongoing support and medical assistance from the government as recovery efforts continue.
