MGs Demand Justice: Dr. Rafey Sher Leads Meetings with Parliamentarians Over PMDC Measures
Islamabad – Under the leadership of Dr. Rafey Sher, the elected representative of Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) and Chief Coordinator of Justice for FMGs, a series of crucial meetings were held with several parliamentarians today to address the pressing issues faced by FMGs in Pakistan. These discussions focused on the recent controversial actions taken by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), which many believe are unjust and harmful to thousands of young doctors.
During the meetings, MNA Farhan Chishti from MQM pledged his unwavering support for the FMGs’ cause, condemning PMDC’s measures as detrimental to the future of many medical graduates. He emphasized that these actions must be reconsidered for the well-being of young doctors who have invested significant time and money in their education.
Senator Amir Chishti also assured the delegation that the FMG issue would be formally addressed within the Senate Health Committee. This assurance marks a significant step forward, as it guarantees that the issue will be discussed at the highest legislative platform in the country.
Dr. Rafey Sher, while speaking on behalf of the FMG community, reiterated the urgency of the matter. “We will not stop until justice is served,” he said, stressing the struggles faced by graduates who have spent five years abroad and invested millions in pursuing their medical education. He highlighted that the issue is not just personal but a national-level crisis that affects nearly 4,000 graduates and their families, whose futures are directly impacted by the current situation.
The FMG community’s demand for justice and fair treatment continues, with the hope that parliamentary action will bring an end to their long-standing struggles with the PMDC.
