Judicial officers from Balochistan have begun a three-day specialized training session in Lahore to enhance their skills in evaluating forensic evidence in criminal trials. The program, organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and supported by the European Union under the Deliver Justice Project, aims to strengthen the judiciary’s ability to assess forensic reports, expert testimony, and both digital and physical evidence in serious crime cases.
The training includes a practical field visit to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency, one of Pakistan’s most advanced laboratories. Here, participants will observe how forensic evidence is processed, gaining hands-on experience and learning from the expertise of their counterparts in Punjab.
This initiative also promotes the exchange of knowledge between provinces, which is particularly valuable for addressing cases involving gender-based violence and other serious offenses. By equipping Balochistan’s judicial officers with these specialized competencies, the program seeks to improve the overall effectiveness and reliability of the judicial process in handling complex criminal matters.
