H.E. Prof. Dr. Bibi Ameenah Firdaus Gurib-Fakim, former President of Mauritius, visited The University of Lahore, a member of the COMSTECH Consortium of Excellence, for a high-level discussion on academic and scientific cooperation. The visit highlighted mutual interest in strengthening links between Pakistani institutions and African partners through education and research.
During the meeting she held detailed talks with Mr. Awais Raoof, Chairman Board of Governors UOL, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, Rector UOL. Conversation focused on concrete steps to develop COMSTECH UoL joint programs aimed at capacity building, student exchanges and collaborative research projects tailored for African countries.
Participants also explored new avenues of collaboration in science and technology, emphasising research partnerships, technical training and shared expertise that could benefit both regions. The dialogue underlined The University of Lahore’s role within COMSTECH UoL as a regional hub for cooperation and knowledge transfer.
Officials described the meeting as productive and agreed to follow up on program design and implementation timelines, with an eye to launching initiatives that enhance scientific ties between Pakistan and African nations.
