Aatif Ikram Sheikh, president of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, congratulated the government on the successful 5G auction, calling the transparent and timely process an important step for the country’s digital economy. He said the 5G auction paves the way for faster internet and renewed investor confidence in the telecom sector.
According to FPCCI, the start of 5G services will drive innovation across IT and telecom, elevate internet speeds and unlock growth for freelancers and IT professionals. The 5G auction is expected to act as a catalyst for modern digital services and improved connectivity in urban and rural areas alike.
Industry and trade stand to gain new opportunities as 5G enables enhanced e-commerce platforms, smarter logistics and more efficient manufacturing. The FPCCI highlighted potential gains in digital banking, smart cities projects and increased IT exports as direct outcomes of widespread 5G adoption.
Effective deployment requires significant infrastructure investment, including a larger number of towers and upgraded network equipment. The FPCCI urged the government to support operators with policy incentives and streamlined procedures to ensure the benefits of the 5G auction reach across the country.
The business body also called on the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and policymakers to create a regulatory framework that encourages private investment, fosters job creation for youth and strengthens national digital infrastructure so that the full promise of the 5G auction can be realized.
