A three-day training workshop focusing on gender data and its role in inclusive and responsive planning concluded at the National Police Bureau, with the backing of the German Embassy in Pakistan. The initiative aimed to equip justice sector officials from the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) with the necessary skills and knowledge to promote gender equality in policy development and implementation.
During the training, participants were introduced to key concepts such as gap analysis, which helps identify disparities and areas for improvement within existing systems. The officials also learned about effective data collection methods, enabling them to gather accurate information critical for evidence-based decision-making.
Ethics audits were emphasized as an essential component to ensure that data collection and analysis processes adhere to high ethical standards and protect the privacy and rights of individuals. Additionally, the training provided guidance on gender-responsive budgeting, a strategic approach that aims to allocate resources in a manner that addresses the specific needs of different groups, particularly women and marginalized communities.
The workshop concluded with sessions on implementation planning, ensuring that officials are equipped to put their learning into practice and drive meaningful change within the justice sector. This training forms part of broader efforts by UN Women Pakistan, in collaboration with international partners, to foster equality and justice for all through effective use of gender data.
