A high-level dialogue on gender-responsive policing was held at the Federal Judicial Academy as part of the European Union’s Deliver Justice Project. The event brought together senior judges, lawmakers, and law enforcement leaders to discuss strategies for making Pakistan’s justice and policing systems more inclusive and responsive to gender-based concerns.
Participants included Judge Faryal Zia Mufti, Judge Hajira Rehman, Member of the National Assembly Huma Akhter Chughtai, and former Director General of the National Counter Terrorism Authority, Umer Riaz. The discussions centered on embedding gender-sensitive practices within the country’s law enforcement and judicial processes.
Key topics addressed in the dialogue included implementing survivor-centered approaches in policing, enhancing accountability mechanisms, and promoting pro-women legislation. Attendees highlighted the importance of creating an equitable system where women’s safety and rights are prioritized at every level of justice delivery.
The event represents a step forward in shaping a more inclusive and responsive justice system in Pakistan, with a focus on continuing policy reforms and capacity-building efforts among police and judicial officers.
