Germany invests €27 million through KfW to build a critical substation at the Gharo Wind Corridor in Pakistan, under the Pakistan-German Climate Energy Partnership. Siemens Energy and NGCP collaborate to enhance clean energy development and sustainable economic growth in Sindh Province.
As part of ongoing efforts under the Pakistan-German Climate Energy Partnership, the German government, through its development bank KfW, will provide €27 million in funding for the establishment of a vital electricity substation in the Gharo Wind Corridor. The strategic investment highlights Germany’s commitment to boosting renewable energy capacity in Pakistan, specifically targeting the wind-rich Gharo region.
Siemens Energy and the National Grid Company of Pakistan (NGCP) have partnered for this key project. Their collaborative efforts aim to expand Pakistan’s renewable energy infrastructure, increase grid reliability, and promote cleaner, more sustainable energy solutions.
Upon completion, the Gharo substation will play a crucial role in integrating wind power into Pakistan’s national grid, driving renewable energy consumption significantly higher. This project underscores the shared commitment by Germany and Pakistan toward combating climate change and promoting green growth, particularly within Sindh Province.
The initiative promises substantial environmental and social benefits, supporting sustainable economic development by ensuring stable, reliable, and environmentally responsible electrical infrastructure for Sindh’s growing industrial and residential energy needs.
