Chairman Senate urges Brand Power Economy to boost Pakistani brands, expand digital trade and build infrastructure for youth-led growth.

Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani told attendees at the 16th Annual Brands of the Year Awards in Islamabad that brands form the backbone of a nation’s economy and international image, calling for a deliberate shift toward a Brand Power Economy to accelerate growth.

He noted that Pakistani brands are steadily carving an identity on the global stage, with achievements in sports, IT, industry and services helping to project a more positive image of the country abroad. These success stories, he observed, are central to strengthening Pakistan’s economic diplomacy.

Gilani stressed that a strong brand is the result of sustained research, innovation, design and effective marketing. Addressing young entrepreneurs, he said Pakistan’s new generation already has the creativity, technological knowledge and determination required to lead the transition to a Brand Power Economy.

Referring to the rapid rise of the digital economy, the Chairman highlighted how e-commerce and online platforms now link entrepreneurs in smaller cities and rural areas to global markets. He pointed out that integrity, quality and creativity are helping Pakistani brands gain prominence internationally.

On the role of the state, Gilani argued that government should not interfere in business operations but must provide an enabling environment where trade, investment and industry can flourish. He called for investment in both physical and digital infrastructure so youth can turn ideas into marketable brands.

Emphasising that a product is what you sell but a brand is why a consumer chooses it, he urged businesses to prioritise quality and trust over price to achieve sustainable success abroad. He lauded the Brands Foundation for promoting brand culture and business excellence, and congratulated award-winning companies and entrepreneurs who now serve as ambassadors of Pakistan’s growing brand reputation.

The ceremony concluded with awards presented to outstanding brands across industrial and commercial sectors and was attended by leading figures from industry, commerce, IT and media.
