Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani visited various flood relief camps in Multan and assured that all flood victims would receive equal assistance without discrimination. He emphasized the commitment to provide necessary facilities, medicines, and food to those affected by recent floods, acknowledging their hardships and displacement.
During his visit, Gilani inspected the flood relief camp set up at Shah Shams Girls High School and inquired about the availability and quality of medicines at the medical camp for flood victims. He personally reviewed the flood situation at the Sher Shah embankment before moving on to the Government High School Bach, where he evaluated the arrangements for displaced people. Assistant Commissioner Arif Iqbal briefed him on relief operations, and local administration officials, members of the National Assembly including Abdul Qadir Gilani, as well as community leaders, accompanied him throughout the tour.
Gilani met with affected people at the camps, checked on their well-being, and gathered feedback on the facilities provided. He highlighted the immense challenges faced by thousands who had to evacuate their homes and livestock due to flooding, and he pledged that all victims would receive relief efforts equally and promptly.
Upon questions from the media, Gilani underscored that any complaints or shortcomings within the relief camps would be addressed on a priority basis. He praised the local administration’s efforts and effective evacuation work during this crisis, and also acknowledged the helpful role played by the media in guiding victims through difficult times.
National Assembly member Abdul Qadir Gilani echoed these sentiments, ensuring that every possible effort would be made to support those affected while they remain in the camps.
