Gilani Pledges Flood Relief for Victims

Acting President Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani spoke at a relief distribution in Multan, pledging that the government will remain with flood survivors until they are fully rehabilitated. He acknowledged the scale of destruction to homes, farmlands, businesses and livestock and said no effort would be spared in restoring lives and livelihoods as part of broader Gilani flood relief measures.

Gilani praised the work of local and national organisations including the Farmer Development Organization, Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund, Mukhtar A. Sheikh Hospital and Pakistan Sweet Homes for delivering food, shelter and essential supplies to thousands each day. He underlined that orphaned children affected by the floods will receive complete educational support and care as a central part of relief and recovery plans.

While stressing the role of government action, Gilani appealed to philanthropists, traders and industrialists to join relief efforts, saying that cooperation with civil society and provincial governments would speed rehabilitation. He expressed confidence that these dark days will pass and that communities can be rebuilt stronger through coordinated support and targeted aid programmes tied to the Gilani flood relief commitment.

MNA Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani noted that 5,000 meals are being distributed daily in his constituency and reassured victims they will not be abandoned. Also present at the Multan event were PAC Punjab Chairman Syed Ali Haider Gilani, MPA Kamran Abdullah, Ghulam Mustafa of the FDO, Zuhra Sajjad and other local officials and volunteers helping to deliver immediate assistance on the ground.
