Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Receives Paul Harris Fellow Award

Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has been honored with the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow Award, recognizing his exceptional dedication to humanitarian values and public service. The award was presented during a distinguished ceremony at Gilani House, attended by prominent political figures, civil society members, and dignitaries.

The Paul Harris Fellow Award, named after the founder of Rotary International, represents the organization’s highest individual honor and is reserved for those embodying the motto of “Service Above Self.” Mian Salman Mubarak, District Governor-Elect of Rotary International, formally presented the award to Gilani on behalf of Award Roots International. Zafar Ali Anjum, Chairman of the HSM Group, handed over the official Paul Harris Fellow certificate, further cementing Gilani’s legacy in public service.

Several notable attendees added to the ceremony’s prestige, including Dr. Iraj Fareed, veteran journalist Sajid Hussain Bukhari, Muhammad Sadiq, and Member of Provincial Assembly Syed Ali Haider Gilani. The gathering united leaders and well-wishers from across various sectors, all commending Gilani’s longstanding commitment to promoting peace, goodwill, and humanitarian work.

The Paul Harris Fellow Award has previously been awarded to notable global figures, such as former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, Russian President Boris Yeltsin, former UN Secretary Generals, Mother Teresa, Pope John Paul II, and others who have made groundbreaking contributions to humanity. With this honor, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani becomes the first Pakistani Chairman Senate and former Prime Minister to receive this prestigious award.

During the same event, Mian Salman Mubarak, also the trustee of the Trust for Malnutrition and Stunted Growth, presented an additional award to Gilani in acknowledgment of his continued support for child health and nutrition initiatives. The ceremony concluded with heartfelt expressions of pride and appreciation, marking a significant moment for the Gilani family, the city of Multan, and Pakistan as a whole.
