Google has issued a warning to Gmail users after a dangerous hacker group gained access to a massive database, putting account holders at risk of targeted cyberattacks. The tech giant urged users to remain vigilant and take steps to secure their accounts.

According to reports, the cyberattacks followed a breach of Salesforce’s cloud platform, after which users of Google services became easier targets for further intrusions. Gmail and Google Cloud are used by approximately 2.5 billion people worldwide, heightening concerns about widespread exposure.

Google advised users to watch closely for any suspicious activity on their accounts and to enhance their security settings to help prevent unauthorized access. The company’s Threat Intelligence Group first alerted the public to these attacks in June, and by August confirmed that several successful breaches had occurred due to leaked passwords.

The situation underscores the increasing importance of personal and organizational cybersecurity as hackers find new ways to exploit vulnerabilities across interconnected online platforms.
