Authorities have taken strict legal action against illegal goat grazing in Margallah Hills National Park, relocating the animals and emphasizing strict adherence to conservation laws.
Under the Nature Act 2024, grazing goats within Margallah Hills National Park is explicitly prohibited, aimed at safeguarding the park’s natural ecosystem and biodiversity. In a recent incident, the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) enforcement team identified and swiftly intervened against violations of this restriction.
Responding promptly, the IWMB initiated legal action against the livestock owner found responsible for illegal grazing. Additionally, as part of the enforcement measures, the goats have been safely relocated to the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) Livestock Holding Cell.
These decisive actions underline authorities’ commitment—including CDA and the Ministry of Climate Change—to preserving the ecological integrity and biodiversity of Margallah Hills National Park. Officials reminded the public of the importance of complying with all existing conservation laws and regulations to protect natural habitats across the region.
