In Islamabad on January 20, 2026, Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan of Vietnam met with Mazhar Thathal, Chairman and CEO of Global Trade Expo Centre Pakistan, to discuss initiatives aimed at strengthening Pakistan Vietnam trade in 2026. The delegation from the Embassy included Mr. Thanh Truong, Head of Mission, and the Commercial Attaché, while GTEC was represented by Mr. Liaqat Ali Thathal, Director International Trade and Relations, and Mr. Tahir Ashraf Mughal.
Mazhar Thathal commended the strong trade capacity of Vietnamese international companies and highlighted Vietnam’s modern, innovation-driven approach to global commerce. He reiterated GTEC’s commitment to creating meaningful platforms that connect Pakistani exporters, SMEs, women entrepreneurs and chambers of commerce with international markets, including Vietnam, and stressed the importance of structured trade missions and exhibition participation.
Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan welcomed GTEC’s inclusive agenda and praised its efforts to elevate Pakistan’s trade and business community. He expressed Vietnam’s keen interest in expanding bilateral economic engagement through practical trade initiatives that support SMEs and women-led enterprises.
Mr. Thanh Truong emphasised Vietnam’s strong commitment to deepening Pakistan Vietnam trade through joint collaborations, trade exhibitions and organised trade delegations. Both sides agreed to coordinate closely on upcoming trade missions and exhibition participation to facilitate B2B linkages and expand bilateral trade volumes.
The meeting ended with a shared resolve to advance actionable trade programmes and deepen economic cooperation between Pakistan and Vietnam throughout 2026, with a focus on enabling exporters and small businesses to access new market opportunities.
