Kohsar University Murree has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Guangdong CAS Cogniser Information Technology Co. Ltd., securing a PKR 50 million grant to set up a joint research and innovation laboratory. The MoU was formally exchanged between Prof. Dr. Rafia Mumtaz, Vice Chancellor of Kohsar University, and Dr. Wu Jun, founder of the Chinese technology firm.
The proposed laboratory will concentrate on applied research, innovation and advanced technology development aimed at closing the academia–industry gap. Kohsar University researchers and students will collaborate with Guangdong experts on projects designed to produce practical, industry-relevant outcomes and potential technology transfer opportunities.
Alongside research, the partnership will feature industrial exhibitions and hands-on training workshops for faculty and students to build technical capacity and workplace readiness. These initiatives are expected to strengthen employability for Murree graduates and support local economic transformation through skills development and industry engagement.
Speaking at the signing, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rafia Mumtaz said such international cooperation opens global pathways for students and faculty and positions Kohsar University as a centre for research excellence. Dr. Wu Jun reaffirmed his commitment to the PKR 50 million grant and signalled a long-term collaboration to support research, technology development and capacity building at the university.
